Coordinating the financial aspects of your care
At your initial visit, please bring insurance cards for your primary and any supplementary coverage. Our receptionist will register you as a patient when you check in at the front desk.
You will also meet with a Patient Service Representative (PSR), who works closely with private insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid. Your PSR will review cost estimates, set up payment arrangements and answer any questions. Be sure to talk with your PSR about whether your health plan requires precertification for diagnostic testing, outpatient care or hospital admission.
We will make every effort to help you coordinate your insurance and financial matters. We file your insurance claims for you, so it’s crucial that you inform your PSR of any insurance changes.
Co-payments and deductibles
We are required by Medicare and insurance companies to collect appropriate copays and deductibles. Please speak with your PSR if you have any questions about this requirement.
Your PSR will need to know if you are covered by a health maintenance organization (HMO), preferred provider organization (PPO) or other managed-care plan. We will verify the conditions of your coverage and confirm our participation in your plan before treatment begins.
Some insurance plans require prior approval of hospitalizations, referrals or procedures. This is usually a requirement in managed-care coverage.
The PSR will send the insurer the necessary information. We want to ensure that all approvals are in place so that you receive the maximum payment from your insurance to decrease your out-of-pocket expense.
