Dedicated, caring and focused, Dr. Wayne Ormsby believes the most effective treatment plan encompasses both cancer-specific therapy and care that addresses the whole person, including emotional and nutritional support.
"When I meet a new patient, I want them to know they are the most important person in the room. I want them to know that I will not only take the time to make certain that they have the most appropriate treatment, but that I will also be there when they need advice, education, a hug, or simply a shoulder to cry on."
For Dr. Ormsby, hematology and oncology provide unique opportunities to establish close relationships with his patients and to support continuous advances in treatment options. He enjoys the challenge of being a life-long learner, ensuring the most up-to-date strategies are used for his patients.
"The science of hematology is fascinating for its trailblazing research, but more importantly, the ever-expanding options and hope it offers cancer patients and their loved ones."
Trained at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Ormsby has been honored for his exceptional skill as a physician, earning the William L. Morgan Outstanding Resident Recipient award. He was later elected chief resident at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY.
Dr. Ormsby and his wife have three children, and when not spending his free time as a "swim taxi," shuttling his children to various events, he enjoys reading, traveling and weight-training.
