As director of research at Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and medical director of hematology research for The US Oncology Network, Dr. Jeff Sharman is keenly aware of how the latest scientific breakthroughs allow doctors to customize therapy for individual patients. The lessons learned from hematologic malignancies often apply to many different cancers and Dr. Sharman enjoys seeing all cancer patients.

While research developments provide new reasons for hope, what means the most to Dr. Sharman is being with patients at their moment of greatest need.

As a strategic thinker, Dr. Sharman's research at WVCI has helped lead to a new class of medications that are effective in lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The results have been published in The New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Blood.

He enjoys time with his family, the outdoors, competing in triathlons and travel.
